pls i wish to take an LLM online degree with a prestigious african university . i dont have an LLB though,how can i enrol with the ghana law school in other to practice and how long would be the duration? ken
An LLM would not guarantee you entry i Ghana School of Law(GSL) You would need to have an LLB with some fixed subject requirements,pass an entry exam and an oral interview to enter....A four year project in all ...All the best...check it out http://www.gslaw.edu.gh/index.php
Hello, can you please tell me the areas of law which will be examined for the entry exams? if one has to take the specific modules needed, how long will that take before sitting for the exams. I will apply in 2013, however, company law will be the only module out of the required modules I would have taken, obviously notwithstanding the substantive module ie contract, criminal, tort, land , equity et al . Cheers. Currently in my 3rd year second semester in London.
I am ghanaian presently living in Uk. i would like to do a one and a half year LLB conversion course before coming home to attend the GSL. will i be required to write an entry exam and sit an interview before admission into makola?
I am presently studying the one year graduate diploma in law here in UK with BPP. i intend to take two extra modules after my studies to convert my diploma into an LLB as per BBP procedure. (1)Is this type of LLB qualifying enough to gain me admission into the makola school of law? (2)is BBP one of the institutions recognised by the general legal Council? Hello, I'd like to know if it is possible to gain entry into Makola with an LLB acquired from Zenith College (it is a University of London external course). I've heard rumors that a person would have to do a 4-6 month course after the full 2 years taken at Zenith College.
Admission to Ghana Law School in my view is very unclear. What ever advice you read online, it is very important that one makes a call to the Law School to verify before you invest heavily financially, only to realised at the last minute that your investment has been a waste.
what do i have to do to enter the law school. actually i have passion for law but i have no qualification better still i am above 24. can i get any help?

If you've successfully completed the BPTC in the UK, then surely it is advisable to stay here and obtain a pupillage despite the difficulty in obtaining one.

This is what happens in the pursuance of a Profession in Law in Ghana. After graduating from the Secondary cycle education , you need a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university, wherever . When you have chalked a minimum of at least 2nd Class Lower Division or better, you can apply to the Law Faculty at the University of Ghana for 2 or 3 years : full time or part time . And then proceed to the school of law.

Admin, Im a 2nd year LLB student in UK, regarding modules, core ones i have Criminal litigation, Tort, Company and Land law. My university doesnt offer Jurisprudence or evidence so far. Will i be required to take extra modules befor attending GSL ?

There are two ways of getting an LLB in Ghana, either straight to the university with your WASCE certificate or with a Bachelor's degree in ANY FIELD with a minimum of 2nd class lower. After your LLB, you write an entrance exams and go for an oral interview for admissions into the Ghana School of Law. Upon completing you receive a BL which will enable you practice in Ghana. You can continue to your LLM after your LLB without going to GLS but for you to practice in Ghana you need a BL and only GLS can give it. So to answer your question a degree in any field (be it theater arts, music, religious studies, sculpture etc) can fetch you admissions for an LLB, you just have to pass an entrance exam and a selection interview. You can equally gain LLB with your WASSCE certificates.

DeleteIf you can tell me the specific subjects you would have studied in law by the time you acquire the LLB, I would be able to answer Q1 better.
As to Q2, I think so, but I advise you ask somebody at the Ghana School of Law directly. I could try getting the number for you.

Nope, you need to have studied the core subjects of Law >ie. criminal, tort, contract, equity trusts, public law and land law.

No please. Ghana School of Law only offer BL ie Barister at law certificate and other professional courses. LLB can only be obtained from a university
